Spelling Activities
1.  Write each word 5 times.

2.  Rainbow Spelling - Write each spelling word in pencil.  Trace each word 3 times using a different color crayon or marker each time.

3.  Use alphabet pasta or cereal to spell your words.  Glue these on paper.

4.  Write each spelling word on two index cards.  Mix the cards and lay them face down.  Play a matching game with a friend.

6.  Write the words in ABC order.

7.  Practice spelling the words by typing the words on a computer or an old typewriter.

8.  Search for your spelling words in magazines, newspapers, or books.

9.  Write your spelling words in sand.

10.  Spread shaving cream on a cookie sheet and practice writing the words in the shaving cream.

11.  Jello Scratch-N-Sniff - Write the letters of the words on heavy paper using glue.  Sprinkle Jello over the words.  Allow the glue to dry completely.  You now can scratch-and-sniff each word after you spell them.

12.  Make a set of flash cards to use when studying.

13.  Write each spelling word on paper and then draw a picture to illustrate the meaning of the word.

14.  Write each word on an index card.  Cut each word apart so that each letter is separated.  Place each word in a baggie or envelope.  Choose one baggie at a time and have someone take out the letters and scramble them.  Unscramble the letters to make the word.

15.  Write each of your spelling words on a piece of paper.  Circle all of the smaller words that you can find in your spelling words.

16. Write sentences using your spelling words.  Read the sentences to a family member or friend.

17.  If you have a small chalkboard, write your spelling words on the chalkboard using water and Q-tips.  Watch the words magically disappear.  Also try to write all of your words on the chalkboard before the first word you wrote disappears.

18.  Spell your words with magnetic letters on a cookie sheet or refrigerator.

19.  Have a family member give you a practice spelling test.

20.  Use a coat hanger and colored paper to make a mobile with your spelling words.
