The O.K. Binder is a 3-ring binder designed to hold everything the student and parents need to keep up with what is going on at school. No more lost papers, homework, or hunting for paper to write the teacher a note. The binder is a great way to keep communication open between the teacher and parents. It also helps the student to establish good organizational skills as well as teach him/her responsibility.
Here is what you will find in the binder:
Please place any money sent to school in this pouch. This includes money for lunch, workbooks. book clubs, and fund-raisers. You will also need to place excuses for your child's absences from school in this pouch.
1. Zipper Pouch
3. Behavior Sheet (front of the 1st pocket folder)
2. Behavior Management Plan (clear plastic sleeve)
This pocket holds the behavior sheet for an entire grading period. Please check the sheet each day to monitor your child's behavior at school. Remember to return the sheet to the pocket folder after viewing.
Please read the front and back of this sheet to understand how classroom behavior will be handled.
4. Wonderful Work to Keep! (back of the 1st pocket folder)
This section will contain school papers that may be kept at home. Please check this section daily and remove all papers from this pocket. Test papers will be placed in this pocket every Monday. These do not have to be returned.
5. Newsletter and Weekly Agenda (plastic sleeve)
A new newsletter and weekly agenda will be placed in this sleeve every Monday. The newsletter will contain a list of the homework for the week.
6. Homework (front of the 2nd pocket folder)
Homework will be sent home in the "Homework" pocket and completed homework should be returned in the same pocket. You will find a "Reading Homework" sheet in this section. Use this sheet to list the assigned story your child reads for homework. Please sign it and return the sheet to the "Homework" pocket. I will change the sheet when needed. Please check this section daily. It is not necessary to list math or spelling homework on the sheet because the math and spelling homework papers will be returned in this pocket and I will be able to see that it was completed.
7. Signed Papers (back of the 2nd pocket folder)
Papers placed in this pocket need to be signed, placed back in this pocket and returned to school the next day.
8. Parent/Teacher Communication (divider followed by notebook paper)
I will keep this section supplied with notebook paper for us to use to write notes to each other. Please do not use the paper for any other purpose.
